Russell is fascinated by anthropology, the natural world, and experiential learning. With 23 years of experience teaching ancient lifeways, he holds an MA in ecological archaeology and is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Georgia. Russell has been honored by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and he has served on the board of directors and instructs/coordinates for Earthskills Rendezvous, Inc. He is the author of three books: "Blackbird Dreams," "WildFire - Fire Making Art," and "Native America Bites Back."
