Barbara McFadyen
Barbara has been designing jewelry in precious metals, stones, and vitreous enamel for over three decades. Her passion is to create heirloom worthy objects of adornment or artist books that combine her explorations and love of enamel and metal techniques. She is nationally recognized through exhibitions with the American Crafts Council, the Smithsonian Institution, SNAG, and the Enamelist Society where she has won several awards. Her work is in the permanent collections of The Enamel Arts Foundation and the Mint Museum and is currently exhibited at galleries such as the Penland Gallery, Piedmont Craftsmen, and Creative Metalsmiths, in North Carolina. She received her MFA from East Carolina University, and her BA in Creative Arts from Eckerd College. She has led workshops at fine craft schools throughout the US and abroad including in Italy and Japan. She maintains her studio practice in Chapel Hill, NC. where she lives with her husband and beloved dog. Her recent interests include playing the piano, beekeeping, and raising chickens.
