John began tinsmithing as a teenager, working with his father and using tools and techniques from the 1800s. He spent several years as a volunteer tinsmith at the tin shop of the Ohio Historical Society's Ohio Village. John switched to working exclusively in copper after attending a class on hand-hammered copper at the Folk School in 2010. He currently creates replica Arts and Crafts pieces as well as works of his own design, such as Shaker band boxes. He periodically participates in craft shows and also does custom work for others. Recently, John was accepted into the esteemed Roycrofters-at-Large Association.
