Barbara won the Cleveland State University Poetry Center’s First Book Competition for her poetry collection, "Piece Work." Her latest collection, "Blue Star," tells the story of war and its effect on families, based on letters, journals, photographs, and census and military records. Barbara's work also appears in three award-winning chapbooks and has been published in "The Southern Review," "Cimarron Review," "storySouth," "Appalachian Journal," and other journals and anthologies. She lives in Lexington, NC, and teaches at UNC-Charlotte.
