Sandra has a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Queens University of Charlotte. Her nonfiction book, "Standing on Holy Ground: A Triumph over Hate Crime in the Deep South" (St. Martin's Press, 2002), was warmly reviewed by "O: The Oprah Magazine," "USA Today," and "Southern Living" and won a Christopher Award for literature. Sandra is also author of "Flowers for the Living," a novel to be released in March 2016 by Texas Review Press, and she is at work on another novel set in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Additionally, her freelance work has appeared in "The Washington Post," "Family Motor Coaching" magazine, and many other publications.
