Alan exhibits his birds of the Appalachians illustrations throughout the Southeast. Primarily self-taught, his artistic objective was not realized until age 40. Being partially color-blind, finding his niche was difficult -- until the popularity of black and white photography, and rapidograph pen drawing, of nature convinced him to give it another try. The effort paid off. With his natural talent and devotion to technical accuracy, Alan is now considered one of the top wildlife artists in the region in both pen and ink, and watercolor.
