Dana used to have a variety of handcraft hobbies, but abandoned all others when she discovered temari in 2005. She is now certified at the advanced level by the Japan Temari Association in Tokyo and is working toward her Shihan (master) level. In 2016, she traveled to Japan to learn about different regional styles of temari. Dana enjoys addicting new students to this fascinating craft by teaching classes in the Triangle area of North Carolina and online, and she has been serving as the assistant instructor for temari classes at the Folk School since 2014, taking over as primary instructor in 2018.
