Stephen Martin
Share:
Stephen has been interested in traditional woodworking for much of his adult life, but became actively involved following his retirement in 2000. He built a pole lathe, shaving horse, and various hand tools. He began demonstrating traditional hand-tool techniques, use of the pole lathe, shaving horse, drawknives, adzes, hatchets, and other traditional tools to make a variety of greenwood items, such as spoons, bowls, stools, and walking sticks. Steve has held a variety of classes in carving spoons and making shaving horses and pole lathes over the last three years. He believes that we learn more than simple skills when we replicate the work and techniques our ancestors developed and used over centuries.
