Sammy Long
Sammy is a native of Greenville, MS, and a resident of Brandon, MS. Happily retired from many years of work in the gas pipeline industry, he began his career as a machinist and first learned to turn on a metal lathe as a young adult. Sammy later began woodturning as a hobby and is now known for his exquisite hollow forms with leaf carvings, piercings, and spiraling. He is a member of the Craftsman's Guild of MS. He teaches there, at the Appalachian Center for Crafts in TN, and for local and regional woodturning clubs and symposiums. Sammy's work has been directly influenced by John Jordan, Binh Pho, and Dixie Biggs.
