Molly Grant
Molly began leatherworking in her early 20s, and later by apprenticing at the Black Swan Leather shop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where she learned traditional leather working skills. As a youngster, she first saw Cordwainer Shoes at the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair, and never forgot the beauty and craftsmanship. In 1989, Molly became a juried member of the League, participating in the fair with a line of her own handbags. There, she had the opportunity to meet Paul Mathews, owner of the Cordwainer Shop. Within a few months' time, Molly was traveling to craft shows nationally and learning the Cordwainer craft. She still sells her handbags at fine galleries nationally, but her main focus is teaching shoemaking at national craft schools. Molly teaches shoemaking workshops at her Goffstown NH workshop, she published her first book on shoemaking the Pathfinder, and is busy writing her second book on Squire Boots.
