Karen reflects, "Who ever thought in a million years I would wind up working in a museum?" That was not on her radar when folks would ask her, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" But in 1987, with a BA in sociology and wondering what to do with it, she headed to Colonial Williamsburg for a summer job. And she stayed. Karen has worn many hats for the organization, from foodways interpreter to business analyst, but being master of the weaving shop has fed her soul. Historic textiles and the stories they tell have been her joy. She feels lucky to weave, spin, and dye something every day, and she never stops learning. Karen says, "How cool is that?!"
