Elaine Rader
Elaine was raised in New York City and was educated in music and dance at The Juilliard School and the School of American Ballet. She studied painting and sculpture with her father, as well as clay methods at the Museum of Modern Art. Her first career, though, was banking. In the late '70s she met and married a jewelry designer and was introduced to the world of metalwork. Although she didn't perform technical aspects of creating jewelry at that time, she was very involved with designing pieces using an intuitive, hands-on approach. One day Elaine decided to reconnect with her creative self, leading down the path to her new life as a metalsmith. She's now been a full-time metalsmith for the past 21 years.
