Phillip James Fiuza Lima
Phillip James is a craftsman with a passion for bamboo and its plethora of uses, from veggie burgers to bicycles. His primary focus is making bicycles -- but not just any bicycle. He creates a model out of bamboo called the Bamboo-biniā„¢ that "grows" with the child (see photos on the Facebook link below, as well as on Etsy), and it can be customized to fit people of many sizes and abilities. For an introductory class at the Folk School, Phillip will be teaching how to make bamboo canes using techniques similar to building bicycles, an idea that originated from making canes for his grandparents. "Making things to make things better for others" is his mission.
