Dawn is a metalsmith who works in hollowware, flatware, engraving, chasing repousse, plating, musical instrument making, and tool and die making. She is also skilled in bookbinding and related arts, including marbling, paste papers, calligraphy, ink, and paint making. Dawn student music and art at DePauw University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has taken private lessons at Penland School of Craft. She has taught hands-on demonstrations at numerous historic sites and art venues, and homeschooled her daughter from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Dawn's work can be found in numerous private collections, including a silver punch bowl and ladle in the White House Craft Collection. She served as the Folk Shakespeare Library Artist in Residence Fellow in 2019, and her research project was titled "Hooked on Book Furniture - Clasps, Corners, and Center Medallions."
