Betty is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and resides in the Big Cove Community of Cherokee, NC. A white oak and river cane basket weaver, she has won ribbons at several Cherokee Indian Fair Competitions. At her home studio, Betty can be found cutting and dyeing the strips she uses. Betty's cultural art pieces are heavily influenced by traditional techniques and materials handed down with each generation.
