Deborah is the author of "The Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook" and "The Field Guide to Fleece." Wool especially fascinates her: its varieties, its histories, the animals that grow it, and the many uses to which it can be put. She believes strongly in the ability of hands-on experience to direct and inform both creativity and intellectual understanding. Deb learned to sew before she learned to read, and followed the textile pathways backward to knitting and crochet, weaving, and ultimately spinning. She has served as an editor of "Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot" and, for a dozen years, of "Spin-Off Magazine," as well as of many books, often on textile topics. One of Deb's passions is the conservation of rare livestock breeds, especially sheep.
