Jim Jim Roberts is a percussionist, educator, producer, writer, and artist. He has over 35 years of experience in the percussive arts. At Elon University, he founded and continues to direct the World Percussion Ensemble in 2008 and has taught drum set, music history, and percussion at Elon University since 2007. He has performed in diverse genres with groups such as Craicdown, Footloose, Lipbone Redding, The Horse Flies, Billy Dean, Havana Select, The Chuck Davis African-American Dance Ensemble, Victor Wooten, and Futureman Wooten. He has toured nationally and performed at Merlefest, The Grand Ole' Opry, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Augusta Heritage, The Grassroots Festival, and Shakori Hills. He has played dances in the contra dance scene nationally since 1990. He holds a MM in percussion performance from Northern Illinois University, a BM in music education from East Carolina University, and an Audio Technology Diploma from SAE (School of Audio Engineering). He has also studied percussion in West Africa, Cuba, and Brazil Camp in CA.
