Joni is Florida born and now resides in Moncks Corner, SC. She is an apprentice basket weaver, studying under the direction of Lynette Youson. Joni is a history and anthropology scholar and earned her anthropology degree at Florida State University. She has worked in with many museums, preserving black history, including serving as the Projects and Programs Coordinator for the Riley Museum and Center in Tallahassee, FL. Joni currently serves as a 7th grade English teacher in Cross, SC.
