Clarke teaches old time finger style banjo, and guitar. He was born in Texarkana, Texas and raised in East Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. Clarke began playing music at the age of five, starting on piano then adding cello, bass, acoustic and electric guitar and banjo. He studied music performance and composition at Goddard College in the early 90s and went on to perform and tour nationally and internationally with a number of bands as a keyboard player for almost two decades. Clarke has also produced and engineered many albums for bands in Austin, Texas and Kansas City. Shortly before meeting Betse Ellis, Clarke started taking his explorations into Old Time music deeper. After Betse and Clarke teamed up, in life first, and then in music, it was on. They have toured internationally over the past seven years, performing and teaching at camps. Clarke specializes in old time finger style banjo, as well as flat pick, and finger style and is passionate and thoughtful about music education.
