Laura is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians on the Qualla Boundary in Cherokee, North Carolina. She comes from a family of artisans on both sides of her parents. She received her AFA in 2005 in Studio Arts with a concentration in metalsmithing, and a BFA in 2014 in Studio Arts with a concentration in ceramics at the Institute of American Indian Arts College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She graduated with her MA in Art Therapy & Counseling 2018 at the Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has three of her pieces in permanent museum collections.
