Betty began her art career in 1975 and has studied under many nationally recognized teachers. She holds degrees from Queens University in Charlotte, NC, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she graduated with honors in art. She taught painting and life drawing for many years at the old St. John’s Cowan House and the Pancoe Center at the Cameron Art Museum. She is currently on the faculty of the Cameron Museum School. Betty instructs the annual Artists’ Week at Pawleys Island, SC, and she has taught at the Folk School since 1999. Her work has been exhibited and awarded nationally, including at the International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society, and is found in museum, corporate, and private collections.
