Wayne began carving at age 5 under the tutelage of his Norwegian grandfather. He took his formal training in Brienz, Switzerland, and his work has appeared in special exhibition at the Swiss National Museum in Zurich. Here in the U.S., Wayne was named the 2005 Woodcarver of the Year by "Woodcarving Illustrated" for his contributions to chip carving. He has written eight books and has produced a video and DVD. He creates a number of commissioned pieces annually, and devotes much time to judging competitions and teaching in North America and Switzerland.
