Chris trained as a blacksmith at the Penland School of Craft and at the Folk School, beginning in the mid-1990s. He spent two and a half years on staff at the National Ornamental Metal Museum and several years as coordinator of the iron studio at Penland before moving to work for Samuel Yellin Metalsmiths in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has also worked with Scott Lankton and John Medwedeff. Chris's primary interests in forging are working aggressively with mass and developing ornamental forgings that move in three dimensions. He currently lives and works in El Paso, Texas.
