JoAnn , influenced by Shaker and New England splint basketry, designs and weaves black ash baskets on hand-crafted molds. One of her sewing baskets is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum as part of the Cole/Ware collection. In 1999, she was honored to have an ornament on the official White House Christmas Tree. JoAnn has been teaching at craft schools and conferences for 30 years. She has earned the Certificate of Excellence in Basketmaking: Level I from Handweavers Guild of America. Her recent passions include broom making and wheat weaving.
