Share:
Mary Ellen combines the well-documented benefits of mindfulness practice with poetry as a path to self-awareness and health. From community-building and nonprofit work in inner-city Philadelphia, London, and India, and raising five children while traveling the world, Mary Ellen has used writing as a way to affirm the power of love, healing, and the dignity of each person. She has been awarded numerous grants, awards, and scholarships for her work in poetry and community health. She has a BA from UNC-Asheville, trained with the Institute of Poetic Medicine, and teaches poetry to veterans with trauma through the Asheville and NC Arts Councils. She was also nominated for the Pushcart Prize for Poetry.
