Ruthie is a primarily self-taught jeweler who has worked in mixed metals for over 32 years. She first spent 10 years exploring weaving and macramé, which enhanced her ability to mix colors and patterns. She now creates exquisite jewelry utilizing precious, semi-precious, and unusual stones. A member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, Piedmont Craftsmen, the North Carolina Society of Goldsmiths, and the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists (TACA), Ruthie has taught at the Folk School, Wildacres Retreat, Tryon Arts & Crafts School, and her own Mountain Metalsmiths School of Jewelry & Lapidary in Arden, NC.
