Norma Smayda

Norma is a weaver, teacher, author, and exhibitor who learned to weave in Norway and has returned there to teach and to lead handweaving tours. She has an MFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts. In 1974, Norma established, and continues to run, the Saunderstown Weaving School. Scandinavian weaving and the works of Rhode Island's Bertha Gray Hayes and Weaver Rose are her major interests, and she has co-authored a book, "Weaving Designs by Bertha Gray Hayes."
