Basse-taille and Champlevé Intensive (Scandinavian Heritage Week)
Date: Sunday, Mar 19 - Saturday, Mar 25, 2017
Subject: Enameling, Metalwork
Instructor: Kay Patterson
Share:

Make beautiful 1" to 2" enamel pieces, suitable for pins and pendants, using techniques practiced for centuries. Begin by drawing or transferring designs onto copper and etching out the area behind the design. Varying the depth of the etch will produce different intensities of color seen through an overcoat of transparent enamels (basse-taille). Solid-color opaque enamel can be wet-packed into deeper recesses, with some copper design exposed (champlevé). All levels welcome. Scandinavian Heritage Week honors the Folk School's roots, inspired by "folkehøjskole" of these northern European countries. In the company of newfound friends, you will enjoy special food, music, dance, and craft traditional to the region.

Prior to registering, please read our General Information and Policies.
