Hardwood? Sharp tools. What a Relief!
Date: Sunday, Oct 25 - Saturday, Oct 31, 2020
Subject: Woodcarving
Instructor: John David Caldwell
Share:

It's not magic; the mighty mallet will help you create an "in the round" sculpture. Uncover the mystery of working "with the grain" and learn to use, sharpen, and safely handle a variety of carving tools. Your first project will be a small vessel, carved with mallet and gouge from your choice of hardwoods. Demonstrations, exercises, and individual instruction will provide you with a strong foundation of basic carving skills. Then comes the relief, using one of the most enjoyable of carving woods-basswood. We'll explore more advanced techniques while carving a picture into wood. Both projects will be of your own design. Use of power tools will be minimum, as traditional carving will be the emphasis.

Tuition: $630.00
