In this style, egg yolk is used as the binder between paint and surface. Unlike other media where splashy or thick layers can be applied, tempera painting requires different techniques, very akin to drawing. Learn how to prepare panels with traditional gesso, transform dry pigments into paints, and perfect the brushwork that is special to this ancient technique. Strong drawing skills are recommended.
