Have fun learning scrimshaw, and keep an original American art form alive. Explore the techniques of line cutting, stippling, and coloration, progressing from simple patterns to more complex designs. Receive tools to keep and enough material for six projects (jewelry and display items). Materials include artificial ivory, legal fossil ivory (mastodon), tagua nut, and bone. Drawing skills are not necessary, though patience is a plus. The art of the whalers is open to all. Note: Additional materials fee is estimated at $100.
