Whether you call it a fiddle or a violin, the fundamentals of making the instrument are the same. Learn how to install a bass bar, inlay purfling, top tuning, neck setting, peg fitting, sound post setting, and bridge carving. Finish a fiddle/violin "in the white" (first coat of varnish is possible). Explore advanced techniques including varnish, use of hide glue, and maintenance, and learn some of the fiddle's/violin's history and myths. Beginners are welcome, though some woodworking experience is helpful. Special tools and forms will be provided. Note: Additional materials fee is estimated at $250.
