Once in decline, Eastern Bluebird populations have rebounded thanks to conservation efforts. A member of the thrush family, it measures roughly 7-inches high with a rounded head, large eyes, and a short tail. The male is also known for its vivid blue feathers. Use reference photos and measurements from scaled sketches to carve a likeness of this beautiful bird in tupelo wood with power-carving tools. Improve your skills in carving, burning, and texturing feathers, and painting with acrylics in the process. Power-carving experience is essential, and you are welcome to bring your tools.
